Built in scaffolding makes it so easy to differentiate with these phonics sorting activities.

Each sorts come in two different versions - with and without picture support.

Students can read, cut and paste the words in the correct column.

Or if you prefer, they can simply use the bottom as a word bank and they can write each word in the correct spot.

Sorting words is a very helpful tool to teach children to look for patterns within our words.

This helps with both reading and spelling.

ADDITIONAL PHONICS ACTIVITIES

We are working on beginning and ending blends, digraphs, vowel teams, phoneme replacement, reviewing CVC words and so much more with these worksheets.

Students also love to color these spring themed activities while practicing specific phonics skills and sight words.

LANGUAGE AND WRITING

We are having so much fun this month reading, writing and practicing our critical thinking skills.

Picture clues, graphic organizers and color clues are all ways I provide scaffolding so all students can be successful.

It is so neat to see their progress because we cover these same skills every month, and each time they improve and their confidence grows.

The monthly writing prompt comes with a sentence starter and without. Also included is an option to have them draw a picture to illustrate their writing prompt.

Use either format that works best for your students. It is fun to do a writing prompt each month and save them in a portfolio.

This month, students will write about why they are “Excited to be me!”

You can choose to use the version with or without scaffolding.

Working on skills such as sequencing, contractions and ABC order requires repeated practice to ensure mastery.

We do these activities every month and it is the perfect way to keep these skills fresh in their minds!

Practicing our grammar skills has never been easier… or more fun!

Students enjoy mixing it up between cut and paste, coloring and worksheets.

Every month, students love that they get to read and write their very own book!

Two versions are included: one where students read and one where students can write their own book!

Picture word banks help students write sentences to match the pictures.

It is so fun to see what students come up with, and then they can read their books to a partner.

Students are not afraid to write when you provide them with the scaffolding they need to feel successful.

ADDITION

There are so many strategies to help students understand addition.

Learning to quickly make ten when adding three numbers helps students become fluent with their facts.

I designed these activities so you can easily target addition with and without carrying/regrouping.

I also use number lines on many of the pages to provide scaffolding so they can be independent.

SUBTRACTION

Included are activities that have students “borrow” or regroup and worksheets where they do not.

This makes it so easy to target specific skills and differentiate.

TIME AND MONEY

Activity pages help students tell time with both analog and digital clocks to the hour and half hour.

We are working on identifying coins and using their value to “buy items”.

MEASUREMENT, FRACTIONS, 2D SHAPES AND 3D SOLIDS, NUMBER WORDS

The standards can be so much fun with these activities.

Every month we work on ordering numbers on a number line, number words, 2D shapes and 3D solids, measuring and fractions.

BASE TEN AND PLACE VALUE

Understanding place value is so important in first grade!

These base ten blocks visuals are so helpful for understanding two digit numbers as a group of tens and a group of ones.

We practice breaking numbers down into their place value with so many activities so they can see different formats.

This helps them understand numbers on a conceptual level.

You’ll love how activities are formatted the same each month, so students get repeated practice with the same standards.

The activities increase in difficulty throughout the year to target the skills we are working on.

They won’t spend a lot of energy figuring out what the problem is asking, rather they can get right to work.

Plus, you won’t waste a lot of time explaining directions!

These missing addend activity pages are perfect for first grade standards.

They require critical thinking skills, but students will become proficient at using the number lines to figure out the problems.

HUNDREDS CHART

An important skill in first grade is for students to be able to identify ten more, ten less and 1 more 1 less of numbers 1-120.

I love using a hundreds chart for this, because students quickly see the patterns and become independent using the charts.
